After the opening session at the conference, the first presentation was made by Prof Inza Kone, the Director of the “Centre Suisse de Recherche Scientifique” in Côte d’Ivoire and a member of the Red colobus Working Group on “Biodiversité et développement des pays Africains”. After listening to the presentation, my take-home messages are presented below:
- The achievement of SDGs and the agenda 2063 of the African Union depend on the efficient conservation of the natural capital of Africa;
- Encourage the creation of local conservation initiatives;
- Researchers need to learn how to share their findings and communicate with politicians for implementation and valorization of their research;
- It pays to invest in biodiversity conservation.
