Kenya

Kenya is home to 1 taxon of red colobus, the Piliocolobus rufomitratus classified as Critically Endangered according to the IUCN Red List.

Tana River Red Colobus, National Museum of Kenya, Kenya 

Around 800 individuals of the Tana River Red Colobus remain in 32 fragmented forest patches along the Tana River in eastern Kenya. The species is threatened by inbreeding and population fragmentation along with some hunting. We will help understand the population bottlenecks and prioritize which forest fragments to re-connect and then work with local communities to re-forest areas to join small populations together again
